TravelEase
Planning a trip to Tagaytay as a group means juggling chats, maps and review sites. For our capstone thesis, I led development of TravelEase, a tourism portal where travelers plan trips together, find local businesses on an interactive map, and read reviews and travel blogs, with local government approval of business registrations. I contributed about two-thirds of the project's 316 commits, and it shipped with 411 automated tests and is live at travelease.app.

The problem
Travelers heading to Tagaytay need to plan together, find local businesses and know what to expect on the road. Local businesses need a trusted place to be listed, and the local government needs a say in which registrations go live.

What we built
- Collaborative travel plans with admin, editor and viewer roles, so a group can plan one trip together.
- A business directory in 8 categories, with local government approval of business registrations.
- An interactive map with routing, plus traffic and weather information.
- Reviews and travel blogs for each place.
- Five user roles across travelers, businesses and administrators.
Stack and why
- Front end: React 19, TypeScript, Vite, TanStack Query, Tailwind CSS 4 and Leaflet for the map.
- Back end: Node.js and Express, with Prisma on PostgreSQL and Supabase Auth for sign-in.
- Performance and safety: Redis for caching and rate limiting.
- Testing: Vitest.
- Hosting: Vercel and Railway.
